About the Author

Hi there! My name is Cam (they/them): avid hiker, writer, grad student, and alpine plant enthusiast.

I graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2018 with a B.S. in wildlife & conservation biology and a minor in writing. I am currently attending graduate school for a dual masters in social work and public health.

I have worked in the outdoor industry for the past five years, serving as an outdoor educator to hikers and steward to some of our wild spaces. I’ve also had the honor to be a mentor for queer youth at Camp Brave Trails and be inspired by LGBTQ Teens on a Crew for Northwest Youth Corps.

As a non-binary trans person, I am keenly aware of the lack of representation of Queer folks in outdoor leadership roles, and of the unique challenges faced by trans people in small towns. I am passionate about increasing resources for LGBTQ+ folks in rural areas, and helping restore environmental justice to green spaces.

The Adirondacks will always hold a special place in my heart, alongside the grief of the pain living as a trans person caused me. I currently call St. Louis, MO home, and am excited to share my adventures with you.

If you like my work, please consider supporting me here. Every little bit helps!
